The LAC were proud to welcome The Mayor to speak at their open day, in the London Transport Museum, Covent Garden, on the second day of National Apprenticeship Week.

The Mayor met apprentices and employers and organisations that have benefitted from hosting young people. Jessica Elliott 22 of Catford is the Founder of Dancing After School, a business based in Shoreditch, which provides the very best dance and movement extracurricular activities for schools. The company is committed to raising academic achievement through freedom of expression and the enjoyment of dance and aims to release the confidence and creativity which lies within every child allowing them to grow socially and reach their full potential.

Jessica taught The Mayor of London a few special moves and explained the benefits of dancing for people of all ages. Jessica was delighted to have met The Mayor expressing: “It was excellent to meet The Mayor and to discuss the benefits of Dancing After School and he seemed very interested in what our company had to offer”.

The Mayor and the LAC called for more to be done to support apprentices in the capital, especially whilst so many young Londoners are finding it difficult to find jobs and work experience in the current climate. The Mayor urged businesses across the capital to invest in its workforce to ensure we continue building the skills needed to retain London’s competitiveness and future prosperity.
