Munchtime March
Our lunchtime dance clubs can be carried out in the playground (weather permitting) or the school hall and are designed to fuse choreography from the children with expert knowledge from our instructors. The fantastic dance routines which will be produced can be performed to the school at the end of term.
(classes are usually 30-40 minutes)
After School
After School dance clubs are the perfect opportunity for children to learn a new style of dance or improve on one they are already familiar with. Classes are extremely fun and a great way for children to keep fit. A small presentation is usually the main aim which gives the children a focus and enables parents, teachers and friends to see what has been learnt. Children can also work towards external examinations with the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) or the UKA (United Kingdom
Alliance)
Dance Curriculum For Key stage 1
For these classes we work using the National Curriculum for Physical education and dance, meeting requirements using a style of dance of your choice.
For Key Stage 2
Our classes within secondary schools are designed to meet Key Stage 2 requirements.
| Curriculum Requirements | What we do |
| Acquiring and developing skills | The children taking part in the dance classes will participate in various dance styles where they will repeat movement and actions that will increase control and coordination. The children will explore different ideas and stimuli such as, the Olympic games to different religious and cultural festivals. Our classes encourage body and spatial awareness and every component of fitness particularly flexibility, posture, agility |
| Selecting and applying skills | Our dance classes encourage role play, the use of imagination and musicality. All of these contribute to the development of creativity. We then apply these skills to activities and encourage participants to ‘think outside the box’. We apply rules and conventions for different activities. Our classes are a great way of encouraging social awareness and exploring diversity. |
| Evaluating and Improving Performance | Throughout the activities the children undertake our specialist instructors will constantly give guidance, advice and constructive criticism to the children. The young people can also watch, observe and evaluate themselves and others in order to improve and control the skills they will learn. |
| Knowledge and understanding of fitness and health |
Moving and being active is our passion and through Dance, Performing Arts, Sports and Art the participants of the classes will be constantly active. With the catering that we provide we can promote Healthy eating and Lifestyles. |
